Email | Print

In a bid to continuously meet the changing needs of the market and customers, Microsoft is all set to add new capabilities across finance, revenue recognition, and warehouse tools to the Fall 2018 release of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. At the Summit EMEA 2018 in Dublin, several major enhancements were announced: from finance/public sector improvements to revenue recognition, advanced warehouse and transportation. Here’s a sneak-peak into these enhancements:

Finance

Numerous developments across public sector reporting, budgeting, vendor collaboration, and distribution of income accrued on cash balances are set to transform the reporting process.

Revenue recognition

Several enhancements across revenue management, revenue recognition schedules, subscription and renewals, and revenue forecasting and reporting are lined up. The Fall 2018 release will also ensure revenue automation processes comply with standards such as IFRS 15 and ASC 606.

Warehouse and transportation

Advanced warehouse and transportation management capabilities will include cross-docking, catch weight, retail pack and ship, material handling, and small package management.

Vendor onboarding

With the new release, organizations can now input prospective vendor’s data into Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations or use the Data Management Framework to import the prospective vendor data periodically. It is now possible to set up workflows for adding, modifying, or inactivation of new or existing vendors in Azure AD.

Productivity improvements

The Fall’18 release will also continue to improve on existing areas such as intelligence and insight, productivity, usability, and adaptability.

New deployments

Since Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations no longer supports overlayering, all ISV and custom solutions will have to be deployed using the newer extensibility model.

Frequent updates

The new release will also allow customers to embrace a frequent platform update cadence and semi-annual updates to the application itself - customers can no longer put off updates for long periods of time as before.

Simplifying the Digital Transformation Journey

The Fall 2018 release with its various enhancements will make Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations an unmatched platform for digital transformation. With so many new capabilities across various aspects and with productivity improvements, new deployment models and frequent updates, you can be sure to simplify and streamline your organization’s digital transformation journey.
