How Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM Makes an IT Pro’s Job Easier

Thanks for joining us for this, the third and final installment of our blog series on how Dynamics 365 ERP can make the jobs of professionals in many fields much easier. In case you missed the first two posts, you can catch up by using the links below.

But now, I would like to focus on why Dynamics 365 is a smart choice if you’re looking for a business management system that will help you run your business while lightening the load carried by your Information Technology team. Just like in the preceding blog posts, I will focus on a few specific goals everyone in an IT role will likely identify with.

Goal #1: Ensure your systems are always up to date and available to those who need them

How Dynamics 365 can help:

  • Microsoft hosts Dynamics 365 on its Azure cloud service. That way, time-consuming software updates are taken care of for you. Also, Azure is one of the largest and most trusted cloud services. So, as you would expect, Dynamics 365 is backed with a strong 99.5% uptime guarantee SLA.
  • Because Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM is cloud-based, it is available anywhere you have an Internet connection. There are also native mobile apps available for both phone and tablet users. So, your team always has access to the information they need to get their jobs done, no matter where business takes them.

Goal #2: Minimize information security risk

How Dynamics 365 can help:

  • Just like Office 365, Dynamics 365 uses Azure Active Directory (AAD) to authenticate users. This not only helps to protect your system from unauthorized access, it also makes it quick and easy to assign or revoke privileges as needed. Also, your colleagues only need to remember a single set of credentials to log into both critical business systems.
  • The system encrypts  your data throughout. Your connection to the Microsoft datacenters running Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM, and the industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS) protects your public endpoints. Thus, creating a secure connection between your browser and Microsoft servers to help protect your as it is being accessed and transferred.
  • Additionally, Microsoft gives each organization its own locally isolated data repository. Anytime systems are no longer needed or reach the end of their useful life, Microsoft follows strict data handling procedures and hardware disposal guidelines.
  • Microsoft blocks unauthorized traffic from reaching its datacenters using a variety of the latest security technologies, such as DDoS attack prevention. And, a team of security experts works diligently to maintain, improve and check Dynamics 365 security, performing regular tests.
  • Dynamics 365 ERP offers role-based security out of the box. This means you can easily give users access only to the information they need, based on your own security policies. And, rather than having to set permissions for each individual user, you can define security roles, then assign each user to the proper group. Anytime you change the permissions granted to a specific security role, they will flow to the users in that group.

Goal #3: Improve Efficiency

How Dynamics 365 can help:

Instead of using several disjointed systems to run your business, Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM is a modular system that gives you the freedom to build the business management system you need to run your organization from end to end. That way, you only have one system to support. And, users no longer must log in and out of multiple systems, or worry about errors caused by having to copy data over from one system to another.

Goal #4: Spend Less Time Putting out Fires

How Dynamics 365 can help:

  • As I mentioned earlier, Dynamics 365 ERP and CRM is a single system that can easily replace several disconnected ones, greatly reducing the number of administrative and maintenance tasks your IT team must perform.
  • On premise legacy business management systems need a lot of attention and costly hardware. When you switch to a cloud-based system, like Dynamics 365, you can stop worrying about supporting your own servers or handling the time-consuming software updates.
