upgrade-erp-to-cloudThe willingness of organizations to consider a SaaS or cloud deployment model for ERP has steadily increased in recent years. At the same time, the willingness to consider the traditional on-premise model has steadily decreased. These observations are made in the Aberdeen Group's whitepaper, SaaS and Cloud ERP Observations: Is Cloud Right for You?. While the data from this report is from 2012, we see this trend continuing with significant forecasted incremental growth in cloud licenses and seats.

Despite these trends, Aberdeen reports that deployment choices are not a major selection criteria when evaluating ERP systems. However, the decision of deployment method can have a significant effect on many of the top selection criteria. Today's trends indicate that SaaS and cloud ERP deployments are gaining steam and delivering impressive results for organizations leading the way. If you haven't considered the benefits of moving to a cloud-based  ERP solution, you might be missing out on:

  • Lower costs including total cost of ownership for your ERP solution
  • Better business outcomes
  • Improved security and stability

While cloud solutions are not for everyone, many of the perceived barriers to a SaaS/cloud solution have been resolved in the last few years. As you look for a new ERP solution or consider your next move with your existing solutions, download our whitepaper, Upgrade Your ERP to the Cloud: Reduce Costs and Get Better Outcomes, to learn how your company could benefit from a move to the cloud.

  1. In most organizations, ERP system has become the application support for the majority of the business processes and the source for corporation’s most sensitive data. As these systems become more important, there are often conflicting opinions about how they should be maintained and updated. This is no longer a technical decision that should be made by the IT department. ERP upgrades are now important enough that senior management needs to fully understand both the timing and project plan.
