Microsoft Dynamics continues to push innovation to the delight of its users. The next development includes the release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015, the next big step for Dynamics GP.
The transition from Dynamics GP 2013 to Dynamics GP 2015 will bring four major enhancements to the system, as well as lots of new features to improve efficiency and productivity. If previous enhancements are any indication of what we can expect in GP 2015, we are in for quite a treat!
The purpose of Microsoft’s bi-annual release schedule is to take what the customers are saying and apply it for greater efficiency and ease-of-use. Accountants eagerly anticipate new GP releases because more functionality means more work can be offloaded to the computer. And who doesn’t want more efficiency during the workday? With that in mind, let’s look at some exciting new features we are anticipating in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015. Be sure to check back in late November, after we’ve attended the reIMAGINE Conference, for more updates on new features in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015!
5 anticipated features of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015:
1. Workflow 2.0 New Approvals
Workflow 2.0, a new feature in GP 2013 R2, gets even better in GP 2015. Users will enjoy four new workflow approvals, which include:
- General Ledger Batch Approval
- Payables Batch Approval
- Receivables Batch Approval
- Vendor Approval
Users will be able to process these batches in a more streamlined fashion as well as control the set-up and editing of vendors.
2. Organizational Account User Authentication
This feature provides more capabilities for a single sign-on experience with the Dynamics GP Web Client. Users can log into the Dynamics GP Web Client using the same credentials they use for Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, and many other cloud applications. One convenience of this feature is when the time comes to change your password, you need only do so once and it applies across the board. This configuration also allows workflow approvals and tasks to be assigned to an organizational account rather than a Windows account.
3. Employee Self Service Functionality
Employees love autonomy, and that’s what this feature is all about. Users will be able to manage and edit their own personal information in Dynamics GP, such as their Address, Phone Number, Emergency Contacts, Dependents and Position History. They can also maintain their education and tests in the Employee Skills and Training Window and view their training history. This feature is workflow-integrated so users can submit changes and get approval from Team Managers, rather than have the manager do it for them.
4. Human Resources Workflow Pending Approval Navigation List
This is the one-stop-shop for managers to view and approve employee self-service changes and all assigned tasks including Payroll Timecards, Employee Profile, Employee Skills, Payroll W4, and Payroll Direct Deposit. Managers can approve or complete multiple tasks simply by checking boxes and selecting an action.
5. Create Refreshable Excel Reports with SmartList Designer
Users will now be able to create refreshable Excel reports using the SmartList Designer. Reports created from SQL views can be published to the Excel Report Library. When users publish a refreshable Excel report, they can open the report in Excel and the data will automatically be up-to-date!
We have high expectations for Dynamics GP 2015, which stem from Microsoft's ability to deliver true innovation in a competitive time when it matters most. We have yet to be let down by their innovative approach to software updates, and we expect no different from GP 2015.
