As stated in our January post, 2014 is the year of the cloud for our company. Each post will focus on a particular aspect of Cloud computing related to our actual experiences. This post discusses common and also unexpected cost savings of cloud solutions.
Typically, cloud solutions promote cost savings (versus on premise solutions) in the areas of upfront licensing, reduced need for infrastructure, and the efficiency of anytime, anywhere data accessibility.
One underrated area of savings from implementing a cloud solution is potentially reducing the size of office (overhead) related expenses like rent, insurance, and utilities. Since your cloud data is available “on demand”, companies can have employees work remotely – accessing data from where and when of their choosing.
This year as our firm continues its commitment to Cloud, we plan to reduce our office space over 50% as most employees will work remotely. The resulting cost savings should by far exceed the additional monthly expenditure for our cloud related services. We shall see.
