With more than 600 hours saved for the IT department, 160 hours saved for the accounting department, and more than $266,000 in overall savings, choosing to leverage Microsoft Dynamics ERP and CRM in the cloud has proven to be a beneficial decision for Ascend Integrated Media.
As a custom media and marketing services agency with more than 30 years of experience in the field, Ascend Integrated Media, a , is led by seasoned media veterans. The leadership team recognizes that today’s companies and event owners can improve their outcomes by leveraging the skills of outside experts to develop and manage their content needs, and their efforts have landed them more than 59 national awards in the last three years.
Despite the company’s innovative approach to custom publishing, Ascend Integrated Media was using in-house legacy systems to run their customer relationship management, accounting, project cost, FTP/file share, and production applications. The software applications the company was leveraging were hitting or already beyond their end-of-life, and the in-house hardware was well past its end-of-life usability.
“Our server infrastructure was so far behind that if we decided to upgrade, it would be like moving directly from DOS to Windows XP,” says Scott Harold, Ascend Integrated Media’s Vice President of Digital Media. “In order to keep our processes up and running long-term, we were facing an application and server refresh with a price tag that could easily reach a hundred thousand dollars.”
Prior to transitioning their operations to Microsoft Dynamics ERP and CRM in the cloud, the business was using separate application systems for their financials, CRM, project cost solutions, and FTP/file share systems. These systems were not just outdated and in some cases obsolete—none of the systems were capable of interacting with any of the other systems. Thus, revenue reporting, project management, and sales-related tasks often required logging into multiple systems and patching together reports from several locations. As a lack of integration was one of the key issues with Ascend Integrated Media’s legacy application systems, building an environment of integrated applications was a primary focal point for the team during the move to the cloud.
With the Microsoft Dynamics in the Myappsanywhere Cloud, Ascend Integrated Media was able to replace its legacy application systems with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, and Microsoft Hosted Exchange 2010. These applications were able to create an integrated experience across multiple departments within the business. Additionally, moving their business processes to the cloud enabled Ascend Integrated Media to eliminate 12 aging servers, thus preventing the company from having to spend money on new servers to replace their outdated infrastructure.
