Hidden Features in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013

Do you like finding out ‘little known’ features within Microsoft Dynamics GP?  Did you know that Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 now has the capability to warn the user if a PO receipt item’s cost is different than the original encumbered amount?  Well, it might not have been ‘publicized’ prior to a blog entry.

My favorite Microsoft Dynamics blog is the “Inside Microsoft Dynamics GP” site created by their product marketing team.  But it isn’t all ‘marketing’,  it is really full of GP User Tips.  At Microsoft Conferences, the most popular sessions are the ones highlighting the best new additions or little known features that all clients should be aware of to make their life easier.   This blog is like an ongoing “Tips and Tricks” session for Microsoft Dynamics GP and should be frequently visited by customers, prospects, and partners of Microsoft.

Last week one of the contributors, Pam Misiak, Product Manager at Microsoft, started a series tagged #gp2013 weekly topics.  Several of the entries from the first week have a focus on the Purchase Order Processing modifications for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013.   I had seen most of these features at Convergence, read about some of them in previous blogs, and trained customers on many who have upgraded to the recent version.

But then again, not all of the features may have been ‘documented’ prior to these blog entries by Pam and team.  Like this  GP 2013 Purchase Order Encumbrance Notification Enhancement one specifically.  Although the “What’s New” documentation mentions encumbrance enhancements and purchase order new features, not all of them required screen changes or setup modifications.  So, they may have just slipped past mentioning.  With blog entries like Pam’s, we learn all about the ‘behind the scenes’ improvements also made within Microsoft Dynamics GP.
