In my experience, people who use Microsoft Dynamics LOVE Microsoft Excel. (This applies to people considering using Microsoft Dynamics GP too.) are always popular but we just found out about a new one that is FREE. Hard to believe but true.
Jet Express, a new self-service reporting solution from Jet Reports, is now available for Microsoft Dynamics GP for FREE. (I have to repeat that since it is so amazing). Using Jet Express, business users can create reports in minutes, with no advanced programming skills required.
- Jet Express pulls information directly into Excel from Microsoft Dynamics GP.
- Data in your reports can be refreshed with the click of a button, so you always have up-to-the-minute information.
- You can combine data from any table, view or field that you have access to in Microsoft Dynamics GP and pull this directly into Excel. Then using standard Excel features like PivotTables, charting and custom styles, you can create smart and compelling reports. And with the click of a button, the data in your report is quickly refreshed.

When asked to test it out, Amber Bell, Training and Implementation Specialist at CAL Business Solutions was immediately excited. (She loves Excel). Amber did a little research on using a feature she hadn’t tried before - Adding “Slicers” to Pivot Tables. It was easy for her to do this with the free “Data Connections” or with any report created with Excel Report Builder.
The Jet Express tool would allow additional data from other tables to be added to your report. The out of the box “Data Connections” from Microsoft can do some pretty powerful reports, but once you start, you will ask “Can I add____?” and now with Jet Express, you can create these reports without purchasing SmartList Builder.
The report below was done without any add-ons. Amber thinks Jet Express would be good for people that want more complicated Dashboards without buying SmartList Builder.( Although she is passionate about the value of SmartList Builder too). But since the cost of is $2000 (including Excel Report Builder, Drill Down Builder & Navigation List Builder) vs FREE for JetExpress – a strong argument can be made.

Also another important formatting feature that you will want to use off this menu is the “Move Pivot table” it will give you room to show the slicers.
