When it comes to ERP products, there are many categories of comparison. Time and again, Microsoft Dynamics AX has excelled in the quality and execution of its interface, usability, and depth of features. With Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, you can add speed and performance to its list of triumphs.

To demonstrate some of the speed and performance enhancements in Microsoft Dynamics AX, the Microsoft Dynamics ERP teams has produced a brief video available online for free viewing. Sri Srinivasan, Principal Program Manager Architect,  takes a closer look at the improvements to both speed and scale in this Microsoft Dynamics AX video.

It is not enough to simply upgrade hardware. Even if you upgrade your server, upgrade your office computers, and manage to shrink the amount of time it takes for data to travel from a computer to the server and back again, you will still be at the mercy of the software itself. Nothing can be more frustrating for hard-working employees than having to wait for reports stuck in a queue or data that is processed at an agonizingly slow pace.

Without going into too many technical details, it is apparent that Microsoft Dynamics AX is lightning fast. Not only is it faster than its competitors like Oracle and SAP, but it also performs as much as 10 times faster than previous versions of Dynamics AX. Size is also no longer an issue. Microsoft Dynamics AX is scalable and will keep up with your business as it grows. Moreover, as hardware gets faster and more powerful, Microsoft Dynamics AX is designed to take advantage of those advancements.

Another area of improvement is in storage. Just as speed is not solely based on processing power, storage is not all about the size of your drives. Microsoft recognizes this and has made the storage system in Dynamics AX more efficient. For example, even as data from a retail transaction multiplies, Dynamics AX can store it in such a way that you do not suffer a decrease in speed and the length of time it takes to access it and process information.
