I’ve Fallen in Love with Infographics – Cloud, ERP, CRM

Email | Print

My love affair started when the ERP Software Blog produced an infographic: CFO’s Guide to ERP in the Cloud for our new white paper: “35 Questions Every CFO Must Ask about ERP in the Cloud.”

Then I saw this one: “Cloud Computing’s Role in Job Creation in U.S.” It shows the results of an IDC study predicting that the cloud will generate 664,000 jobs in 2012 and 1.09 million jobs in 2015.  Staggering!

It’s just so cool to be able to digest a ton of information in a single image that fits on an 8 ½ by 11 page.  So I started searching for more, specifically looking for infographics related to the cloud, ERP or CRM.

I found this site: http://www.cloudinfographics.com/.  Interestingly enough, the last post was November 2011.  That surprised me since I thought the combination of cloud and infographics would be really hot. Perhaps the managers of that Website just lost interest.  I don’t know.  So the search continued.

Here’s one on the Evolution of Social CRM and here’s another on Cloud Computing: SMBs Secret Weapon.  I found that one on the Microsoft News Center.

So all I’ve accomplished here is to cram a ton of links into a very short blog post. Google will hate me. But hopefully you, our readers, won’t.  Because the infographics are fun and my ultimate goal is to start a discussion.  What do you think about infographics as a vehicle for disseminating information?  Are infographics a good marketing tool?  Are they a passing fad?  Do you have any favorites to share with our group?  I’d love to hear from you on all of these (perhaps not very pressing but nonetheless thought provoking) issues.

Thanks!

I have to admit I have a little bit of a love affair myself. Symantec did a great Infographic on the Honey Stick Project. The project involved leaving smartphones at various locations and then tracking the devices to see attempted access of sensitive information and where the devices ended up.
