Set to release in April 2012, the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics Management Reporter 2012 is creating quite a stir and is being called by some the most complete feature rich reporting tool under the Microsoft umbrella.
We’d like to share with you some of the great new features and why we think users are going to embrace this product.
For starters, the feature we really like is the Missing Account Analysis. All companies create new general ledger accounts or financial dimensions at some point. As new accounts and dimension values are added, existing reports need to be updated. Missing Account Analysis helps you check for missing accounts prior to report generation. By checking for issues across all report definitions without generating them, you will save time and be able to close your books faster.
Likewise, the majority of companies need to distribute financial reports to multiple destinations. These places could be either SharePoint locations or network shares. There are also times when a single location is needed as well. During month end close, for example, when reports are being generated multiple times and aren’t quite ready for companywide review. Management Reporter 2012 covers both of these scenarios. In Management Reporter 2012, you can specify a single Report Library location or multiple Report Library locations, as well as multiple network or SharePoint locations.
Management Reporter 2012 will also allow users to enter comments at the financial, account, and transaction level of a report. This common feature request will save many customers’ hours while collaborating with others during the close process. The comments can be copied to various versions of the report and can even be exported out to excel with the reports.
Report groups are an easy and convenient way to generate multiple reports in a single click. For example you may have multiple reports that are run during your month end process. Rather than selecting each of the report definitions individually and then selecting the generate report button, you can simply create a report group that contains the month end reports.
In Management Reporter, you can include the dimension codes and descriptions for a line of a reports and as a result, your users know exactly where a number is coming from.
Rolling forecast headers provide users with headers that dynamically span columns based on the period and report date. This feature is great for rolling forecasts, where some columns contain actual data, and some columns contain budget/forecast data. Each month, as the report date is changed, the headers will update also which reduces the maintenance and user error involved with creating and generating rolling forecast reports.

By Associate Solutions,
I had heard that MR is only available to current users of FRx and will not be available to customers when making a purchase of a new Dynamics ERP product. Is this true? And, if this is such an amazing product, why not sell it to new installs?
Thanks for another magnificent post. The place else may just anyone get that type of info in such an ideal manner of writing? I've a presentation next week, and I'm on the search for such info.
