This month we thought we would share one our favorite new features in
Many times there are associates that need information but have no other reason to be in the accounting application. These users just need access to data that was entered into the system. They don’t want or need a GP client loaded, they don’t want to log into the system and they surely don’t want to run the same report over and over.
R2 of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 gives these users the ability to access all of this information without requiring them to access the accounting system. One of the best features right off the bat is that the Business Analyzer can be installed on a workstation and the Dynamics GP 2010 R2 client is not required as part of the installation.
Business Analyzer uses SQL Server Reporting Services to generate reports and enables end users to define which reports they want to see in the application. The window connects to the SQL Reporting Services Report Server, defined during installation, and returns a list of reports the user has security access to. The user can choose to add any number of reports to appear within the Business Analyzer.
Business Analyzer enables end users to assign Microsoft Lync, Office Communicator 2007, or Email contacts to reports. This great feature allows users to always be just a click away from sharing report data with the people they commonly work with. They can be internal or external contacts which can become a huge time saver in sharing information both inside and outside the organization.
Business Analyzer also installs with the Dynamics GP 2010 R2 client, so any of those nice SSRS reports that you created can be shared with all of the other users. For those concerned with security, there is a complete security model that allows companies to restrict who has access to information that is pertinent to them.
