Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is a Tried and True Public Sector Solution

Email | Print

One of the biggest enhancements made to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, which is scheduled for release in August 2011, is its rich, prebuilt, industry-operational functionality which it delivers right out of the box.  Whereas capabilities like fund accounting were previously added via customizations or ISV products, now private and public sector organizations alike are empowered to increase accounting controls by leveraging this functionality directly from the Dynamics AX 2012 product.

Many of the functional additions specific to the public sector that are included in Dynamics AX 2012 came about through assessing the needs of a real-life public sector organization and Microsoft’s hometown, the City of Redmond, Washington.

Looking to replace their old JD Edwards ERP system, the City of Redmond participated in an early adopter program that had them collaborating closely with the Microsoft Dynamics AX product team and developers.  As a result, the Dynamics AX 2012 public sector functionality was strengthened by being honed to fit the specific needs and requests of city employees and public servants.  The City of Redmond will not only be using Dynamics AX 2012 to manage their administrative and finance tasks, but also to handle purchase requisition and expense management for their fire department, police force, and emergency services.

With input and guidance from the City of Redmond, Microsoft was able to develop industry tools that meet the real-life, day-to-day operational needs of a modern, thriving, public sector organization.

“What is fundamentally different today is the mindset about how the city works and how we can use technology to be much better at what we do.  Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is probably the strongest example of how technology can help us improve constituent services so that people can interact more easily with the city, get their questions answered faster, and experience a much more transparent, responsive municipal government.” – Mike Bailey, CFO, City of Redmond

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is powerful, agile, and a simple solution that has already proven its ability to meet the requirements of the public sector.  Download this whitepaper to learn more about how it represents “A New Generation in ERP”
