Dynamics GP 2010 Reports with Some Heat!!!

Email | Print

Heat maps that is!  Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services includes new a new version of Report Builder.  Report Builder 3.0 has added a new map wizard.  The map wizard allows users to create reports to help visualize aggregated data against a geographical background.   The map wizard is a fantastic way to visualize Microsoft Dynamics GP sales data!  The spatial data can come from the map gallery, an Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) shapefile, or from spatial data in a SQL Server relational database. The United States map is the only map that was shipped with Report Builder 3.0.   There are three types of maps to choose from, a basic map, a bubble map and an analytical map.   A bubble map is a great way to visualize sales by territory, whereas the analytical map is best used to display top selling items in a region.  The wizard also allows you to download Bing map tile backgrounds.  You can specify a road, an aerial or a hybrid tile background.   Using the Report Builder 3.0 and the out of the box Microsoft Dynamics GP data models, you can create sophisticated looking map reports in minutes.  Bring on the heat and give it a try!
