Major national business publications are saying the recession is over – some say it will be a jobless recovery, others say employment numbers will improve in the fourth quarter. The consensus, however, is that we have at long last hit bottom and our collective vital signs are hinting at improvement. We then have a day like August 13th, when stocks go down hard and all the pundits come out of the woodwork with the oh so typical, turn-on- a- dime refrain (no financial pun intended) “the sky is falling and we all knew it was and shame on you for being optimistic!”.
And, once again, we shake our collective corporate-minded heads, because we realize that this recession will eventually end and growth and prosperity will return. Business’ very nature is one of speculation, and, of optimism. We know that there will be challenges; of course, the road map to recovery isn’t ever a smooth one. But, there is an end in sight.
