CFO Alliance Starts Chapter in Connecticut with a Strict Velvet Rope Policy

The CFO Alliance started in 2007 in Philadelphia as an exclusive peer membership group where senior financial executives could come together to discuss the issues that keep them up at night without being “sold to" or “networked with”.  The PA chapter has about 350 members and the Connecticut chapter had its first breakfast meeting last week in Fairfield, CT with an impressive 50 attendees.  (I hear the NYC chapter will launch soon and already has 85 pre- registered).  But before you stop in for the free bagels be warned that they have a strict "velvet rope" attendance policy – you must be a CFO or “senior finance executive driving financial growth”. 

 Even though they won’t allow a lowly software vendor like me into the club, I do have an inside source who told me that the topic at the first CFO Alliance chapter meeting in Connecticut was “Driving Enterprise Value”.  Comments were made by members that CFO’s are the disseminators of information for their companies, they are the historians.  So they need to know that they are driving the right information out the door.  Of course if I had been there I would have oh-so-tactfully mentioned that having a strong, stable financial management system like Microsoft Dynamics GP with business intelligence and advanced financial reporting would ensure that they had the right information. 

Perhaps I will try to crash the next meeting on September 2nd - but I’d better leave my Microsoft Dynamics GP Gold Certified Partner pin at home and try to blend in with the executive crowd.
