href="http://www.erpsoftwareblog.com/2009/07/top-sage-partner-goes-out-of-business-leaves-hundreds-in-lurch/">#1 Sage reseller just went bankrupt. And I also see why Microsoft is really targeting Sage users hard core – offering some of the biggest promotions I have ever seen to get companies to switch from MAS90/200 to Microsoft Dynamics GP. Save 50% off licenses of Microsoft Dynamics GP AND cash back for installation and training. Amazing!

And please, if you are located in the <a

How can you find an expert to give you an honest opinion and not just a sales pitch?

At CAL Business Solutions, we offer free Accounting Software Discovery Calls. During a 45-60 minute conference call or meeting, George Mackiewicz, the owner of CAL Business Solutions, will ask questions about your business processes, your current system, your goals and more. Based on 27 years of experience working with financial software George will help you determine if Microsoft Dynamics GP is a good fit for your needs and your budget. (If it is not a fit, he can often recommend other software packages to consider.) This preliminary discussion can help you formulate your requirements, your budget and your timeline. If you invest one hour of your time to discuss your current system, processes and new system needs, we will let you know if GP is a good fit for your business and how much a new accounting system will cost.

I know that many people hesitate to schedule a call like this because they feel that it is just going to be a salesman pushing a product. Trust me, George is different. Check out what one CFO said after his discovery call: “Thank you for discussing our needs and being straight forward that we might be served better by another partner. Your honesty & integrity are appreciated; it makes me wish that we could have worked together, because I admire these qualities.”

People tell me that this call is an excellent education, much better than hours spent searching the web (that just leaves them more confused). Even if you are not ready to buy a package now, this call can help you determine the right questions you need to ask your team or even other software vendors. It is the best first step in a software selection project. Interested? Practical Advice for Companies Outgrowing Quickbooks”. It is rare to actually see exact comparison statistics but J. Carlton Collins is well known in the industry and a power user of both systems so I trust his opinion. He reports:

As a general rule, most companies using QuickBooks start to notice a decline in QuickBooks performance once the file size reaches 30MB or the total number of transactions exceeds 32,000. In QuickBooks, the number of customers, vendors, employees and other lists most dramatically affect performance. QuickBooks support acknowledges that significant performance problems generally occur when any list exceeds 10,000 – however, as a practical matter most companies see performance issues far earlier.

Microsoft Dynamics GP offers 1,531 more features than QuickBooks Enterprise (2,550 compared to 1,019 according to the 2007 edition of the Accounting Library).

The whole point of an accounting system is financial reporting and Microsoft Dynamics GP offers far more reports (700+ standard reports) than QuickBooks (112 standard reports).

If you read the full report you can actually get a list of 35 features that Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) has that Quickbooks doesn’t – just <a
