Dynamics GP Pricing Demystified

    Email | Print

Let’s face it, after you decided you’re ready to look at new business management solutions and put together a punch list of the features you’ll need, one of the first questions that probably came to mind is, “how much is this going to cost me?” Like all other ERP systems, Dynamics GP pricing depends on a number of factors. To accurately determine how much Microsoft Dynamics GP is going to cost your business, there are a few questions you need to ask yourself.

    1. How would you like to deploy your solution: in the Cloud? On premises?
    2. How many users do you need?
    3. What do you need to run your business?
    4. What are your implementation and training needs?

Once you have answers to these, you will be armed with all the information your Microsoft partner will need to determine your Dynamics gp pricing. Now, let’s take a look at each of these questions in a little more detail.

    1. With Microsoft Dynamics GP, you can choose from a variety of deployment methods, on premise, in the cloud or hybrid. With each of these deployment options, the costs are structured a little differently. For example, if you choose to deploy on premise, as a general rule you purchase the software licenses upfront and you must buy and maintain your own hardware (server) on which the software is run. On the other hand, if you choose to deploy in the cloud, you can avoid purchasing hardware and spread your licensing and maintenance costs out evenly from one month to the next.
    2. Most ERP systems, Microsoft Dynamics GP included, calculate license cost based on how many users will need access to the system. For example, if two companies are considering purchasing Dynamics GP and Company A has 10 users and Company B has 100 users, the pricing of their Dynamics GP systems would not be the same. Also, Microsoft Dynamics GP offers a few different types of user licenses that offer varying levels of system access.
    3. If you’re just making the switch from an entry-level accounting package, maybe you will start by using only Microsoft Dynamics GP’s financial modules. Or, maybe you’re looking for the complete package to run your entire business, from financials to payroll and everything in between. Either way, with Microsoft Dynamics GP the choice is yours and you can scale up as needed.
    4. Ask yourself, do I need assistance from my Microsoft Dynamics partner with any of the following:
    • implementing/setting up the system?
    • customizing it to fit your unique business needs?
    • integrating it with your existing systems?
    • training your staff on the new software?

If so, these are all important support costs that will need to be considered when determining exactly how much Microsoft Dynamics GP will cost you.
