Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 System Requirements

Email | Print

In just a few short years we've gone from not having enough data, to having too much to sort through. Microsoft Dynamics has made a name for itself by giving businesses an out-of-the-box solution to “big data” problems like business intelligence, manufacturing, and managing projects, finances, services, supply chain, and human resources. Are your systems up to date for the Microsoft Dynamics 2013 release? Here are the preliminary system requirements:

Operating Systems - Dynamics GP 2013 will be compatible with the following systems in both 32 and 64 bit:

  • Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition SP2 and above
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition SP2 and above

Additional Requirements:

  • As for memory, you will need to have 2 gigabytes of hard drive space and 2 gigabytes of RAM. You should have Microsoft Office 2010 (either 32 or 64 bit) and either Internet Explorer 8.0 or 9.0.
  • You will need to have an ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity) Driver powered by SQL Server Native Client 10.0 or 11.0. (A 32 bit ODBC DSN is required, even if you have a 64 bit machine.
  • When you deploy a system in a virtual environment, make sure that you have sufficient hard disk space to avoid performance problems. Each computer that you deploy in a virtual environment should meet or exceed the random access memory (RAM) requirements and the hard disk space requirements. For more information, view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 897615 Support policy for Microsoft software running in non-Microsoft hardware virtualization software.
  • You should have Adobe X installed as well.

Several virtual environments are supported. These include:

  • Hardware Virtualization
  • Software Virtualization
  • Microsoft Virtual PC
  • Microsoft Virtual Server
  • Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V
  • Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6
  • Microsoft SoftGrid 4.2

When you use a virtual environment, make sure you have sufficient hard drive and RAM space (more than 2 GB for each).

The new version of GP will drop support for:

  • Microsoft Office 2007
  • Windows XP
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
  • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
  • Internet Explorer 7.0
  • Office Communicator 2007
