Microsoft Dynamics GP uses a payroll posting setup table to allocate debits and credits to various accounts. This setup table can sometimes require hundreds or even thousands of distribution accounts that might be needed to cover all the debits and credits possible with payroll. This can be time-consuming to set up, difficult to manage, and it’s a design that encourages human error. There are other deficiencies with the module. For example, the current model doesn’t allow for percentage splits, it doesn’t allow for account entry during payroll transaction entry, nor does it explain how amounts were allocated to what general ledger accounts. Today there is a better solution available.
offers a product that replaces the payroll posting setup table with a more user friendly-wild-card-based setup windows. The product also offers percentage split distribution and accounting entry for transactions. Check out the window examples below to understand the simplicity this design offers.
During transaction entry a status indicator shows if an account has been identified. If a user wishes, a user can press Ctrl-D and enter or change the distribution for just this entry (this includes the portion that represents salary adjustments too). To ensure distributions are entered, this window opens automatically if an account is not supplied with setup.
