What is ERP?

As a growing business you may often hear that you are outgrowing your accounting system and you should look at an ERP Solution that will fit your functionality needs.  You nod knowingly.  Once you are alone, you think, What is ERP?    Quickly you turn to your laptop, pull up Bing and type in ERP.   A Wikipedia post indicates that ERP is Enterprise Resource Planning.  Still not sure what that means you continue reading, “Enterprise resource planning systems integrate internal and external management information across an entire organization, embracing finance/accounting, manufacturing, sales and service, customer relationship management etc.    Common characteristics include an integrated system that operates in real time, common database, consistent look and feel and installation of the system without elaborate application/data integration by the IT department.”

Microsoft offers four ERP solutions:  AX, GP, NAV and SL.  Microsoft Dynamics GP is an option for the small to midsize company whose functionality requirements  may include: Financial Management, Business Intelligence, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources & Payroll Management, Manufacturing, Project Managemen,t and Service Management.     Microsoft Dynamics GP offers this out of the box functionality and allows the user to be up and running quickly so you can improve your financials and streamline operations.

If you would like to see how Microsoft Dynamics GP can work for your company,  DFC Consultants provides a free Business Analysis Meeting to understand your business’s need and requirements in order determine if the solution is a fit and if so, we can prepare a demo specifically for you.   And for a limited time, receive up to an 85% discount on 5-users of qualifying Microsoft Dynamics ERP Products!  Contact DFC Consultants at 800-277-5561 or email [email protected]  to learn more about the Give Me 5 offer

    1. Hi Vanessa,
Well done on a simplified overview from a buyer perspective. I have tried a few times to put myself in the marketplace and get a perspective from over the fence. My last iteration on this is here (http://harmonyerp.blogspot.com/2011/11/growing-pains-in-small-businesses.html) and I would welcome any feedback.
