The GPUG (Microsoft Dynamics GP Users Group) Washington DC Chapter Inaugural event was a huge success, despite the technical challenges presented to us at the Microsoft Offices DC in Chevy Chase. This event that took place on February 17, 2011 can best be remembered by two things – record attendance and technical “challenges” during presentations – at Microsoft offices!
Heather Williams of GPUG kicked off the event with information on what GPUG is all about, its benefits to the Dynamics GP User Community, and the need for leadership for the DC Chapter. Mark Rockwell of Rockton Software was next with his ever-popular add-on products and support of GPUG. Mark Rockwell knows how to “wow” a crowd! Then, the technical difficulties began! Mark Polino, author of the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 Cookbook and a Microsoft Dynamics MVP, could not be onsite and presented his ever-famous “Tips and Tricks” remotely. Take a look at his humorous blog by Mark Polino on the presentation and technical challenges we encountered! Everyone was patient and enjoyed the presentation despite these “challenges”.
Also Jon Rivers of Data Masons who attended, blogged on the event.
We had a great networking lunch, sponsored by SSi Consulting, Inc. and several of the Partners in the Virginia, DC, and Maryland area. We wrapped up with a Q&A and had five customers/users of GP step up to the plate to volunteer their leadership efforts to push this chapter forward. Another record!
There will be much more to follow on the first chapter meeting so keep an eye out on GPUG’s website, www.gpug.com, and SSi Consulting’s website www.ssiconsulting.com!
Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event a success, especially Mary Berens, Kim Peterson and Heather Williams of GPUG. I want to thank Mark Rockwell for making the trip out to DC, to Mark Polino for his famous Tips and Tricks, to my team at SSi Consulting and the Microsoft Dynamics Partners in the DC area, but without the Microsoft Dynamic GP Users, this event would not have been a huge success! Congratulate yourselves and I’ll see you at the future events!
