With the greatly anticipated release of the newest version Microsoft Dynamics SL just around the corner, I thought this would be a good time to look at some of the new functionality in this coming version. The main goal of this latest version is to address critical needs in the market right now, specifically:
- Makes ERP processes and business tasks easier by improving interoperability, interface design and usability
- Enables companies to be more efficient, integrate more of their ecosystem, and adapt quickly to meet changing requirements
- Improves reporting and query tools to locate information quickly, speed decision making, and extend reports to people who need it, when they need it, where they need it
- Provides capability for expediting the receiving, linking, storing and recalling of ERP-related documents such as emails, images, and other correspondence
Dynamics SL 8.0 will accomplish all of this. By providing predefined user friendly views that use names recognizable to the end user, this latest version will allow users to filter information, save those filtered views, rename columns, and export the data to Excel or launch the associated Dynamics SL screen. Views are secured using the Dynamics SL access rights screen, similar to other Dynamics SL screens and reports. This new version will allow users to retrieve customer information including activities, retrieve SL order information in real-time, and allow customers or sales reps to check on order status. Users will also be able to attach multiple files to a Dynamics SL screen, recall and review documents from a Dynamics SL screen, and store documents in a SharePoint site or network location.
New tools will allow for enhanced project management as well. SL 8.0 will allow for correcting entry errors, and contains flexible and powerful search capability within every project transaction. SL 8.0 allows users to change project, task, account category, account or subaccount, as well as split transactions or do group changes, all while providing a full audit trail.
With these and many more enhancements, now is the time to evaluate Dynamics SL and determine if it can help make the most of your own business software investments, and to drive greater productivity as you plan, deploy, use, and maintain your business-management solutions.
